Who are we?
We are Momentum Robotics. We are a team of dedicated highschoolers working together to build cool robots and learn valuable skills related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
What do we do?
We build awesome robots. No, seriously, that’s what we do. We are a team competing in the FIRST Robotics competition, the Ultimate Sport for the Mind™. Under strict rules and limited time and resources, we are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet our goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community.
Can I join?
We are always looking for new members for our team. Don’t worry, there is no knowledge or experience required. That’s the point: we’re all here to learn. The core goal of our team is to teach our members how to apply the abstract concepts learned in school to real-world engineering and business administration problems. Our mentors are seasoned industry professionals, and with their guidance and assistance we will teach you everything you will need to know.
We are a community team even though we are located at the Sato Academy of Mathematics and Science. This means any student grade 9–12 is eligible to join our team, no matter what school they attend.
How do I join?
The first step is to attend a meeting and get to know the team. Let us know you’re interested by sending us an email at momentumrobotics@gmail.com, and we’ll let you know when the next meeting will occur. You can also refer to our calendar (but still email us before you show up so that we can be ready to introduce you to the team).
Once you’ve attended a meeting and confirmed your decision to join, the next step is to pay dues and fill out paperwork. More details on this are available at the join page.
